Here’s our indie rock playlist for January 2023, featuring the best in independent rock and punk music:
This indie rock playlist for January 2023 is ideal for rocking in the new year, and here are a few of the standouts.
Numb (Pure Violet) – We open this indie rock playlist for January 2022 with a chill number that gets stuck in my head and I am constantly smashing the repeat button on, Pure Violet’s “Numb”. The instruments, vocal effects, and vibes of this lofi synth heavy track hits all the right moods for me.
Beautiful Fire (THE NOVEMBERS) – Great epic synth rock track from Japan from THE NOVEMBERS in “Beautiful Fire” (note this is the roughly translated track name).
Dog’s Diary (Chinese Football) – I love Chinese Football’s unique blend of mathy emo rock and this is fully on display on “Dog’s Diary”.
Runaway (LeBrock) – I love an over the top 80’s fantastic synth wave track every so often, and LeBrock’s “Runaway” checks all the boxes. You’ll be ready to challenge someone to a ski competition or ask out your life’s Molly Ringwald equivalent after hearing this one.
American Honey (Current Joys) – Current Joys’ “American Honey” is a loose slow to midtempo track which has a nice groove but it’s the vocals with just the right amount of desperation on them which are the star here.
Living Mirage (The Head and the Heart) – Excellent Replacements meets indie folk vibes on The Head and the Heart’s “Living Mirage”.
Hanging Marionette (The Appleseed Cast) – Had to include a bit of classic emo throwback in this indie rock playlist for January 2023 with The Appleseed Cast’s beautiful “Hanging Marionette”.
