Here’s our indie rock playlist for December 2023, featuring the best in independent rock and punk music:
Rock around the Christmas tree and get ready to ring in the new year with our indie rock playlist for December 2023.
Missing Piece (Super American) – Love a song that starts out memorably with a brain drilling hook, and what better way to kick off this playlist than just that from Super American with their “Missing Piece”.
Walk in the Woods (Snarls) – Still my favorite from Snarls, this one just builds and builds to its excellent climax in that final chorus.
Nerves (Forth Wanderers) – I like how much Forth Wanderers create out of and around a very simple guitar riff, matching it with the vocal and bringing it back again and again through time and energy changes.
Space Worm (Don’t Stop or We’ll Die) – Don’t Stop or We’ll Die are masters of the quirky alt pop gem. If you’re not sure what the heck I’m talking about with that genre, just listen to “Space Worm”.
My Love (M.A.G.S.) – Great rocker from M.A.G.S. on “My Love” which I imagine being played live in basements with everyone going nuts when that energy cranks up on the chorus.
Maybe (The Get Up Kids) – I’m usually going to their earlier catalog when I’m listening to The Get Up Kids, but songs like “Maybe” remind me that they never lost a step and Matt Pryor is still one of the best and most underrated vocalists in rock, midwest emo or otherwise.
